Health Theory and Communications Research

This guide is designed to get you started researching topics in the field of health, specifically finding information on health issues and designing initiatives for communicating healthy behaviors to patients and the community. It covers using the library's health databases to find scholarly research and assessment, locating health statistics, evaluating information, and citing sources in APA format.

If you have questions about your research or using library resources, please contact your HEA 218 librarian!

Getting a Library Card

Your student UMF ID + a library barcode = your library card.  Bring your student ID to the main desk (on the right as you enter the library) and ask for a barcode.  It just takes a few seconds!

You will need a barcode to:

  • borrow books,
  • access e-books available to UMF students,
  • request books from other libraries,
  • check out materials on reserve for a course (even if reserve items do not leave the library, they still have to be checked out to the person using them), and
  • use the library databases from off-campus.
