About This Guide

This guide covers how to find citations and full text journal articles using the library's online databases, do a thorough search for information on a topic, and evaluate information sources.

If you have questions about the information in this guide or about using library resources, ask the class librarian for assistance.

Getting a Library Card

Your student UMF ID + a library barcode = your library card.  Bring your student ID to the main desk (on the right as you enter the library) and ask for a barcode.  It just takes a few seconds!

You will need a barcode to:

  • borrow books,
  • access e-books available to UMF students,
  • request books from other libraries,
  • check out materials on reserve for a course (even if reserve items do not leave the library, they still have to be checked out to the person using them), and
  • use the library databases from off-campus.
