Getting Started

New to library research?  Check out some of the tutorials and other resources in the box on the left to get you started.

Click on the tabs above for more information about locating books and articles, finding information on the Web, and learning how to evaluate information sources.

Got questions about finding information on your topic or need help using the library resources?  Contact your assigned librarians for help!

Getting a Library Card

Your student UMF ID + a library barcode = your library card.  Bring your student ID to the main desk (on the right as you enter the library) and ask for a barcode.  It just takes a few seconds!

You will need a barcode to:

  • borrow books,
  • access e-books available to UMF students,
  • request books from other libraries,
  • check out materials on reserve for a course (even if reserve items do not leave the library, they still have to be checked out to the person using them), and
  • use the library databases from off-campus.
